What this position is all about

The Bay is seeking a talented, experienced, and passionate Product Delivery Manager focused on delivering customer insights, analytical datasets, machine learning models, and proprietary internal research assets to join our growing team. In this role, you will work across different parts of the critical customer and marketing functions to support and manage the execution of scalable and modular data products and projects to help drive our customer understanding and cross-functional capabilities. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Set the product delivery vision and strategy for data, analytics, consumer research, and customer insights for The Bay Delivery team
  • Own the business requirements, and translate them into scalable and modular components that will empower your teams to deliver solutions that expand our data and analytics capabilities across multiple portfolios.
  • Responsible for creating and managing quality data products, key data pipelines, machine learning models, and services to ensure the growth and achievement of our business goals.
  • Understand our key drivers, customer use cases, and full user flow impact across all platforms.
  • Lead the product planning and development process through backlog grooming, refinement, and prioritization activities
  • Define and detail User Stories and prioritize backlogs in accordance to our business drivers.
  • Evaluate and document the requirements for each product feature, articulate these requirements, answer questions and make scope trade-off decisions as needed.
  • Ensure optimal delivery by removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance and develop contingency plans to demonstrate adaptability while supporting continuous learning.
  • Bridge technical, business, and creative worlds engaging with matrixed teams and creating a collaborative environment while maximizing business return.
  • Coach the team to improve their performance while working on business problems and engaging with senior management

Core Competencies

  • Strong quantitative background, preferably a Master’s degree in Engineering/Mathematics and 10-12 years experience in the data and analytics domain
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, including proficiency in some of the following areas: R/Python, SQL, and Excel and working experience with Oracle, MS SQL, Teradata or other database products.
  • Strong data management experience with knowledge of organization systems and expertise in data aggregation from disparate systems
  • Strong leadership skills in leading a highly talented team of data & analytics professionals
  • Experience working for a retailer supporting the marketing function will be a plus
  • Understanding of the Marketing function – marketing media, Canadian markets, Customer behavior, Campaigns, and ROI reporting
  • Working experience with Tableau, MicroStrategy, or other business intelligence tools is an asset
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with all departments in the division
  • Providing accurate, concise, and up to date information in a timely manner
  • Ability to handle conflict appropriately in an open and positive manner
  • Working as part of a team by forming partnerships with appropriate internal and external resources and accomplishing goals using these relationships\

Must have

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an analytical function (e.g. Business Analytics, Consulting).
  • Experience working as a Product Manager in a SaaS environment.
  • Proven work experience in data product management (growth-stage company experience a plus) and working with agile teams and organizations.
  • Experience translating business requirements to actionable software solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of agile processes and principles, with the ability to provide direction to the agile team and stakeholders throughout.
  • Experience maintaining and prioritizing the backlog in accordance with business and technology drivers
  • Ability to speak to business functions, customers, and partners with confidence and professionalism.
  • Commitment to winning as a team, and the ability to manage and motivate a highly skilled team
  • An entrepreneurial & innovative spirit

Nice to have

  • Experience with the development process, use of tools like GitHub, Jira, and monday.com 
  • Experience using analytics tools such as SQL, Adobe, Tableau
  • Experience or knowledge in data engineering principles, primary research methodologies, data science principles
